2021 Week of Giving
Thelma’s Kitchen at Reconciliation Services
THE MISSION:
Reconciliation Services’ mission is to cultivate a community seeking reconciliation to transform Troost from a dividing line to a gathering place, revealing the strength of all.
Located inside of Reconciliation Services, Thelma’s Kitchen is the first pay-what-you-can cafe in the metro. They meet very real needs in our area for affordable food access and to gather people together for vibrant community life. When we serve together and sit and share a meal together, we begin to understand what it means to be a community. Thelma’s Kitchen is a gathering place, where everyone is welcome.

17% of the population in Jackson County, MO are food-insecure – about 117,270 individuals. 1 in 6 children in the US is food insecure. At Thelma’s, a suggested donation for a lunch is $11, you can donate a little extra to pay it forward, or donate whatever you can.
