PLATTE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
Addition and renovation of an existing daycare into offices and clinics.
THE COMMUNITY
The Platte County Health Department is a local public health department created to protect the health of all people in Platte County. This is done through various programs and services.
The health department is governed by a five-member elected board of trustees that meets monthly. The health department is funded through a tax levy, which provides more than 60 percent of the department’s revenue. Other funding sources include contractual agreements and grants.
THE CONSTRUCTION
The Health Department needed to expand to serve the county’s needs. Formerly located in both Platte County and Parkville, the county decided to combine both locations into one, larger, fully functional space. After purchasing an existing daycare, the space was demoed and transformed into offices and clinics. Renovated interior spaces received new finishes and a fresh coat of paint, while two small additions include a metal garage drive through for immunizations.
